Independent Senator Bernie Sanders came forth this Wednesday to caution President Trump against meddling with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s election interference now that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has exited the Justice Department.
“President Trump must allow Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation to continue unimpeded,” Sanders tweeted out Wednesday while sharing an article linked Sessions’ removal.
Sessions stepped down Wednesday after facing months of insults from Trump.
“I came to work at the Department of Justice every day determined to do my duty and serve my country,” Sessions penned in his resignation letter/
“I have done so to the best of my ability, working to support the fundamental legal processes that are the foundation of justice.”
President Trump must allow Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation to continue unimpeded. Any attempt by the president or the Justice Department to interfere with Mueller’s probe would be an obstruction of justice and impeachable offense. https://t.co/d7vivkXbqJ

The Justice Department quickly released a statement explaining that Matthew Whitaker would now be serving as attorney general.
During a press conference on Wednesday before Sessions’ resignation was offically announced, Trump declared that he has no intention to put an end Mueller’s investigation.
“I could fire everybody right now, but I don’t want to stop it because, politically, I don’t like stopping it,” Trump said.
“I let it just go on,” he continued. “They’re wasting a lot of money, but I let it go on because I don’t want to do that.”
“It’s a disgrace, frankly, and it’s an embarrassment to our country.”
Republicans have torn into the probe as being politically motivated, but have asked Trump not to put an end to it before Mueller makes his final assessment known.
