In case you’ve been living in a cave for the past couple of days, we’ll just mention the video Trump tweeted depicting himself violently attacking a man representing CNN:
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 2, 2017
The video was made by a racist alt-Right Trump supporter, who took a clip from Wrestlemania 23 in which Donald Trump bodyslammed—then punched—Vince McMahon. The original creator simply covered McMahon’s head with the CNN logo, and it became an instant meme depicting Trump’s violent triumph over the media he so loves to hate.
Trump himself liked the video enough to share to his 33.3 million Twitter followers.
Here’s the thing: As Independent Reporter points out, Trump actually LOST—bigly—to Stone Cold Steve Austin in Wrestlemania 23 on April 1, 2017, at Ford Field. So one Trump critic took the opportunity to make a new video, and it’s a perfect Fourth of July gift to the nation.
Jesse McLaren, who works for BuzzFeed, took the video of Trump’s defeat at the hands of Stone Cold, and mimicked the CNN video by replacing Stone Cold’s head with the Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation logo. This results in a video that is easily twice as entertaining as the original—one in which Trump is on the losing end.
Obligatory disclaimer: We do not support the violence depicted in this video, nor violence of any kind, toward President Trump or anyone else. Violence is NEVER the answer!
Jesse McLaren posted the video in the hope that it would get “MORE RETWEETS” than the original video posted by Trump himself. As of this writing, it is up to 194,000 retweets, trailing the original which has been retweeted 332,000 times so far.
Ok Twitter- let’s see if this wrestling meme can get MORE RETWEETS that the president’s wrestling meme. pic.twitter.com/bTWJhttCAo
