Just hours ahead of their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, the Carolina Panthers placed flowers in front of the Tree of Life synagogue.

“With these flowers we extend our deepest sympathies to the Tree of Life congregation in Pittsburgh. #StrongerThanHate,” the Panthers posted with a photograph of the touching tribute.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton donned cleats in honor of the victims of the Tree of Life synagogue shooting to the game.

The NFL team posted pictures of the cleats, which had the phrase “Stronger than Hate” and the team’s colors on them.

“Cam’s cleats for tonight. Bigger than football,” the team detailed in a tweet earlier on Thursday, next to the “#StrongerThanHate” hashtag.

According to Sports Illustrated, the cleats also had the phrase “hatred cannot weaken a city of steel,” on the inside.

Newton came together with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in honoring the victims of the synagogue shooting.

This past Sunday, Roethlisberger had also wore cleats paying tribute the victims. The cleats had the phrase “Stronger than Hate” and re-imagined the Steelers’ logo to feature a Star of David.

Eleven people were murdered at the Tree of Life synagogue late this past month after a gunman fired upon a religious service.

Robert Bowers who was the alleged gunman has pleaded not guilty to 44 federal charges, including hate crimes.
