“One year ago in Charlottesville, we witnessed an ugly display of hatred, racism, bigotry & violence,” Trump tweeted. “While Americans are blessed to live in a nation that protects liberty, freedom of speech and diversity of opinion, there is no place for white supremacy, racism and neo-nazism in our great country.”

“Rather than tearing each other down with hatred, racism & violence, we can lift one another up, strengthen our communities and strive to help every American achieve his or her full potential!” she continued.

White nationalists and counter-protesters are expected to flood into Washington, D.C., Sunday to commemorate the anniversary of Charlottesville’s deadly rally. The rally, which will take place just outside of White House, is estimated to draw hundreds of protesters.

Trump’s denouncement was noticeably firmer than one issued by her father, President Trump, came forth on Saturday. The president posted several tweets early Saturday stating that he condemns “all types of racism and acts of violence,” though he made no mention of the upcoming rally.

Trump came under intense scrutiny last year after he argued that”both sides” were responsible for the events in Charlottesville, which abruptly ended when a man with alleged neo-Nazi ties plowed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing resident Heather Heyer.

Trump also drew massive backlash for claiming that there were “fine people” among the neo-Nazis and white supremacists who had organized the rally.
