Jim Carrey Strikes Again With Blistering Painting Of Psycho Mike Pence

Jim Carrey has created a little cottage industry for himself with a series of sharply targeted paintings that comment upon, and make mock of, the Trump administration and its most outrageous personalities.

On Friday, Carrey posted his latest: a scathing portrait of Vice President Mike Pence. He’s depicted staring intensely at a fly on the back of his hand, and the piece is captioned, “Psycho Mike-O ;^P”

Pence is rapped in a white robe, or perhaps a shawl, and these words surround him:

I hope they are watching…they’ll see. They’ll see and they’ll know, and they’ll say, “Why, Mike Pence wouldn’t even harm a fly….”

The quote is a reference to the Alfred Hitchcock classic, Psycho, in the last lines from the film. Norman, speaking in the voice of his mother, whose dead body he had enshrined for years after her death and in whose emotional grip he had committed several grisly murders, says:

They’re probably watching me. Well, let them. Let them see what kind of a person I am. I’m not even going to swat that fly. I hope they are watching…they’ll see. They’ll see and they’ll know, and they’ll say, “Why, she wouldn’t even harm a fly….”

GOP pundit George Will wrote a blistering article for the Washington Post recently in which he called the vice president “the worst person in government.”

Will says Pence reflects everything that’s wrong with the Republican Party as the country gets closer and closer to the midterm elections. The reason, according to Will, is that Pence’s antics represent how the GOP’s platform has become all about servility to Trump:

Donald Trump, with his feral cunning, knew. The oleaginous Mike Pence, with his talent for toadyism and appetite for obsequiousness, could, Trump knew, become America’s most repulsive public figure. And Pence, who has reached this pinnacle by dethroning his benefactor, is augmenting the public stock of useful knowledge. Because his is the authentic voice of today’s lickspittle Republican Party, he clarifies this year’s elections: Vote Republican to ratify groveling as governing.

He continued,

Trump is what he is, a floundering, inarticulate jumble of gnawing insecurities and not-at-all compensating vanities, which is pathetic. Pence is what he has chosen to be, which is horrifying.

Could Carrey have had this commentary in mind when he was creating his latest artwork?
