San Juan Mayor Gives Perfectly Heartbreaking Response To Trump’s Threat To Abandon Puerto Rico

After President Trump said the U.S federal aid to the hurricane-ravaged isand wouldn’t last, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz shamed him for failing to care for American citizens.

“It is not that you do not get it; you are incapable of fulfilling the moral imperative to help the people of PR. Shame on you!” she tweeted.

On Monday, Trump wrote a series of tweets about the U.S being unable to continue aid to Puerto Rico “forever”, threatening to end the aid before the island has time to recuperate.

“We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever,” Trump tweeted. He also blamed the poor infrastructure and debt to the U.S as reasons for slow progress on the island.

Cruz has been an active critic of Trump’s  administration, pointing out the administration’s failed response to the devastation left behind by Hurricane Maria. In turn, Trump attacked Cruz, calling her “nasty” and accusing her of having “poor leadership ability.”

The President was criticized for making rude comments to Cruz while she waded waist deep in water to help her own people while he took off for the weekend to play golf.
