On Monday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert discussed Roy Moore, the GOP Senate nominee in Alabama who stands accused of sexually molesting a 14-year-old girl while he was an assistant district attorney—”which would be appropriate only if he were a 14-year-old assistant district attorney—kind of like a Douchie Howser,” Colbert joked.
Moore might have weathered the storm, Colbert noted, but another woman stepped forward Monday with terrifying allegations of a violent attempted rape when she was 16—despite which, Moore inscribed a Christmas greeting in her high school yearbook.
That is disturbing, but it could still play well with evangelicals, because he didn’t say “Happy Holidays.” That’s a deal-breaker.
Republicans are trying to figure out how to push Moore out of the race, including postponing the election, and the Senate majority leader said he believes the women and thinks Moore should step down. Colbert got a pained look on his face and placed his hand over his heart:
What is this strange feeling? I’m not sure this is the word—I…agree with Mitch McConnell? Is this a dream? Somebody pinch me—just not Roy Moore!
Colbert went on to discuss Trump’s Asian trip, particularly his side meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Even though Putin denies they discussed Russian meddling in the election, Trump once again said he believes Putin denial of interference in the US election. Colbert said:
Yeah, and we know from past experience you can always trust a guy who repeatedly denies allegations—look at Weinstein, Cosby, Ailes, O’Reilly, Louis C.K., Brett Ratner, Bill Clinton, and future Sen. Roy Moore.
If Trump got along with many of the leaders he met with in Asia, he had some hard words for North Korea’s Kim Jong-un:
Why would Kim Jong-un insult me by calling me "old," when I would NEVER call him "short and fat?" Oh well, I try so hard to be his friend – and maybe someday that will happen!

There’s a lot to unpack from this presidential tweet. First of all, North Korea called him “an old lunatic,” and his response was, “What do you mean, old?”
Clearly Trump doesn’t mind being called a lunatic….
What do YOU think?
